Jubilee records the events which transformed the 10,000-acre Marinette cotton plantation into a retirement community that set a new standard for the world. Experts said a community solely for the elderly was destined to fail, but Del Webb and the Webb Corporation proved them wrong. Opened on January 1, 1960, 237 homes were sold the first weekend, and Sun City was completed in less than 20 years with a final population of nearly 40,000 adults.
