The Sun Cities Area Historical Society was founded in 1988 with the acquisition of records, brochures, photographs, newsletters, and newspaper clippings from the Del E. Webb Corporation. Up until now, these records and a great deal of other materials have been kept in filing cabinets in the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum and have seldom been seen.
Teams of devoted volunteers started going through this treasure trove of documents in 2021 so that anyone who was curious about Del Webb and the creation of the first planned active retirement communities in history could access them.
