It’s often been said and written that Sun City and Sun City West are different, unique. The question invariably becomes, how or why? The answer is grounded in our history. The sheer size of our two communities coupled with the fact we were built in unincorporated areas with no local city governance dictated we needed an internal infrastructure that provided supporting organizations to help us. The residents were members of the Greatest Generation and were all joiners and doers. The call for volunteers was answered time and time again. To this day, the organizational structures built years ago remain active, vibrant and make an enormous difference in both Sun City and Sun City West. Imagine life without the PRIDES, the POSSE, Helping Hands, Sunshine Service, PORA and SCHOA, etc.
